Military sciences major acquisition program

Project description
Write and submit a one-page SINGLE-SPACED abstract on a major acquisition program that has occurred within the Department of Defense in the last decade, focusing on the T&E aspect of that program. This abstract will be used in conjunction with your final paper.

An abstract is a single-spaced overview of an article or book in which one briefly identifies the main points and conclusions of the document with as few extraneous words as possible. When researching an article or book in the major academic search engines, you will often find an abstract first to help you decide if the article has the type of information you are looking for before reading it. Animal farm is a famous and short story written by George Orwell about Russian’s history by retelling the story in the form of an animal tale.

Animal farm is a famous and short story written by George Orwell about Russian’s history by retelling the story in the form of an animal tale. This novel is based upon the events that happened during and after the Russian Revolution of 1917. Various historical statistics are represented by different animals and proceedings. In fact, the Old Major, who is one of the important characters in this novel, felt that his speech was really important and had to be spoken that night when he met all animals because he had a strange dream, he wants all animals succeed in their own lives by making a rebellion against human beings, and he is almost done with his life.

First of all, Old Major’s speech was very important that night because he had a good dream the night before the meeting .Indeed, when Old Major dreamed of freedoms, happiness, and dignity for all animals, he wants to share his beautiful and imaginable dream with them because he has done a lot of things in his life with human beings and he knows them very well. In addition, Old Major always think about animals’ lives and how they are treated, so he would like to make his awesome dream happen as soon as possible. As an illustration, when he says that animals are dominated by man and this is the main reason they cannot be happy, free, and fulfilled. And also when he says” Man is the only creature that consumers without producing”.

Secondly, the second reason that Old Major’s speech had to be said that night is that he wants all animals succeed in their entire lives by taking revenge from human beings. In fact, Old Major’s objective is to make every animal in the farm rich and intelligent, but it is very hard for them to become rich as long as humans control them, so he tries to make a rebellion against humans so that they can successfully have wealth. For example, he says that, animals can be richer than they think by saving their products for themselves instead of giving them to humans.

The third reason that Old Major’s speech was really important is that he is getting old and he might die soon. Old Major’s age is 12 years and he is the oldest animal in the farm and he had about 400 piglets. In fact, Old major thought if he would not say his speech that night, it will be very late to help the animals because he may lose his life before he told them. For instance, when Old Major says” I do not think, comrades, that I shall be with you for many months
longer, and before I die, I feel it my duty to pass on to you such wisdom
as I have acquired”

To sum up, this story is well written and it is one of the most significant stories in West that reveals Russian’s past and revolt. Moreover, sharing an  unbelievable dream with animals, making them succeed and drawing a picture of humans’ bad behaviours in animals’ minds to take revenge, and limited   days of Old Major’s life are the reasons why he felt that his speech was really important that night to be told.

Financial Accounting Regulation In Australia

BUACC 2606 – Financial Accounting

“Financial accounting is fairly heavily regulated in Australia. There are numerous Corporations Act requirements, and there are many accounting standards, with additional standards being issued fairly frequently. The ASX provides extensive regulation for listed companies. But is all this regulation really necessary? What if we had no standards, and reporting entities could report what information they wanted in whatever format they considered appropriate?
Opinions on the need for regulation vary, and range from the ‘free-market’ perspective to the ‘pro-regulation’ perspective.” (Deegan, 2010, p.38)
Required:
Discuss the above quotation. Explain and evaluate the arguments for and against regulation. What is your opinion of the current level of accounting regulation?

Engco, a domestic corporation, produces industrial engines at its U.S. plant for sale in the United States and Canada.

1. Engco, a domestic corporation, produces industrial engines at its U.S. plant for sale in the United States and Canada. Engco also has a plant in Canada that performs the final stages of production with respect to the engines sold in Canada. All of the output of the Canadian plant is sold in Canada, whereas only one-third of the output of the U.S. plant is shipped to Canada. The Canadian operation is classifi ed as a branch for U.S. tax purposes. During the current year, Engco%u2019s total sales to Canadian customers were $10 million, and the related cost of goods sold is $7 million. The average value of property, plant, and equipment is $30 million at the U.S. plant, and $5 million at the Canadian plant. Engco sells all goods with title passing at the Canadian plant in the case of Canadian sales and at the U.S. plant in the case of U.S. sales.

1. How much of Engco%u2019s export gross profi t of $3 million is classified as foreign source for U.S. tax purposes?

2. Now assume that the facts are the same as in part (a), except that the Canadian factory is structured as a wholly- owned Canadian subsidiary, rather than a branch. Engo%u2019s sales of semi-finished engines to the Canadian subsidiary (which still represent one-third of its output) were $6 million during the year and the related cost of goods sold was $4 million. The Canadian subsidiary%u2019s total sales of finished engines to Canadian customers (which represents all of its output) was $10 million and the related cost of goods sold is $7 million. The average value of property, plant and equipment is still $30 million at the U.S. plant, and $5 million at the Canadian plant, and Engco sells all goods with title passing at its U.S. plant. How much of Engco%u2019s export gross profit of $2 million is classified as foreign source for U.S. tax purposes?

3. How would your answer (to part b) change if Engco sold its goods with title passing at the customer%u2019s location?

The Influence of Technology on Kids

There is a great Influence of technology on kids, especially in these coming days. Technology has been around for a while, and it is continuously improving day by day.  Technology can influence kids in a good way or a bad way. Kids can be influenced by technology depending on the many ways it can be used. They usually can use it for many things such as entertainment and school. Some children don’t know their limit to using technology and that sometimes can affect them in so many ways such as their health and social interactions with family and friends. It can isolate them from normal life, and spending quality time with people who they love. However, technology is great for school and learning, where they can use it to advance their knowledge for certain subjects. They can always use technology to research for school subjects, and or if they have questions on something they have not learned about before. Technology also can offer some sort of safety to kids, such as cellphones that they can use when they are in need. The audience I will aim this proposal to would be the kids and parents. The overall purpose is to aware both kids and parents of how technology can affect them, but also acknowledge them on how beneficial it can be.

The research that I have done so far is an interview with a parent and her child to see how it influences both of them and if it was good or bad. Other research I have been looking at is through books from the library, and some magazines. I have not found any books yet that I felt really covered the subject, but maybe I can use some of its source able information. Others are saying it would be a good topic for many different reasons, which are informing of the benefit of technology and finding solutions to the problems and effects it can cause. Many people that I talked to about my topic confirmed that there is more of technology affecting their kids in a negative way. Some also said they don’t know how to get their kids to stop using it, but it has become our life. Other parents said that it would be hard when we use technology just as much if not even more, to get our children to cut down on it. So I think in my research it would be a good idea to search for solutions to fix these problems.

My pan for this research paper is to interview, online research from academic sites, academic journals, university library, books, surveys, and magazines. I have one scheduled interview so far, but I am looking to schedule a few more interviews with both the child and parent. For the online research I want to look at multiple data bases of how technology effects or influences kids. I would like to also search the university library for any books and other academic journals. I think surveys will also be very beneficial to give some facts of real people to support my proposal and my research in the end. Magazines are hard to get information out of them, and I still have not found a reliable magazine just yet.

There can be a lot of problems that I may have to contend with in my research. There is always worries that I will not find enough information. Sometimes I can come across a lot of information regarding my topic but it very hard to find reliable ones. Other problems I may face can be the formatting of the research paper. I expect there to be enough research about my topic through different sources, I just know I have to be very careful of where I do get my research from. I may have to narrow my topic, because there are so many technology systems that can change my whole research and point of view on how it influences kids whether bad or good. I do not think I could broaden it, because there are already so many direction I can go with my research paper with this topic.

biological imperatives

If we consider that our most important biological imperatives (e.g., breathing, eating, sleeping) are the things that we do or are required to do most frequently, communication may be among the most important human activities. We are communicating constantly. For this dialogue session, identify a reason “why” humans need to communicate. For the reason that you identify, provide an example. Additionally, discuss the reasons to communicate within an organizational context. In other words, how does membership in an organization help a person to satisfy the need or reason to communicate? How might membership in an organization prevent satisfaction of a particular need or reason to communicate? What are the implications for effective leadership? What are the implications for organizational behavior?

The client company can contact those clients provided by the potential outsourcing company and the get their feedback and their report about this data management outsourcing company. Through this primary information, American Data Exchange Company can make an informed decision on who is preferably the best services company to hire.

Business Law : Academic response

Business Law : Academic response

Giant Batteries, Inc. is a large corporation that manufactures batteries for large industrial and agricultural vehicles. Over the past few months, it has experienced an overwhelming amount of legal problems and litigation. The president of Giant Batteries, Ima Dummie, consults with the law firm at which you work seeking legal advice and counsel relative to the companyâ??s various legal issues. The senior partner for the firm has asked that you research each of the issues presented by Mr. Dummie and prepare an interoffice memorandum outlining the law as it relates to the issues as well as an analysis of the actions that the corporation should take in remedying the situation, if necessary. The senior partner of your firm has asked you to address the following six (6) issues in an interoffice memorandum of no more than six (6) pages:

1. One of Giant Batteries salespersons, Joe, anxious to make a sale, intentionally quoted a price to a customer that was $600 lower than Giant has authorized for that particular product. The customer purchased the product at the quoted price. When Giant learns of the deal, it claims that it is not legally bound to the sales contract because it did not authorize Joe to sell the product at that price. Is Giant Batteries bound by the contract? Fully discuss.

2. One day, Tina, a Giant Battery employee, suffered a serious burn when she accidentally spilled some acid on her hand. The accident occurred because another employee, who was suspected of using illegal drugs, carelessly bumped into her. The hand required a series of skin grafting operations before it healed sufficiently to allow Tina to return to work. Tina wants to obtaincompensation for her lost wages and medical expenses. Giant claims that it is not legally required to compensate Tina in that regard. Fully discuss the law as it relates to Giant’s legal responsibilities for compensating Tina.

3. After Tina’s injury, Giant decides to conduct random drug tests on all of its employers. Several employees claim that the testing violates their privacy rights. If the dispute is litigated, what factors will the court consider in deciding whether the random drug testing is legally permissible?

4. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has learned that Giant Batteries engages in deceptive advertising practices. What actions can the FTC take against Giant?

5. Giant faces stiff competition from Bigger Batteries, Inc., another battery manufacturer. To acquire control over Bigger, Giant makes a tender offer to Bigger’s shareholders. If Giant succeeds in its attempt and Bigger is merged into Giant, will the merger violate any antitrust laws? Suppose the merger falls through. The vice president of Giant’s battery division and the president of Bigger agree to divide up the market between them so they will not have to compete for customers. Is this agreement legal? Fully explain.

6. Ima Dummie learns that Giant’s shareholders are contemplating a takeover of a rival. Mr. Dummie tells his wife about the possibility. His wife calls their broker who purchases shares in the target corporation for both her and her husband. Has Mr. Dummie violated any security laws? Has his wife? Has the broker? Fully explain.

Prepare an interoffice memorandum answering the six (6) issues mentioned above and advising your senior partner on the most advisory course of action for Giant Battery to take. Be sure to support your analysis with cites to applicable case law and other scholarly legal authority.

Paper instructions:
This is a paper on Candide, by Voltaire. NOT a movie version! The style and voice of the paper can be very casual. The theme to be researched and written about is the symbolism that occurs within the text, with an emphasis on the “gardens”. Are they meant to be just that, symbols? Or is there an irony to some of them? Please explore these ideas and their importance not just to the story, but how it relates to today’s issues.

U.S. Army Procurement System

This is a topical paper for a Procurement 5000 class
This is a note my teacher sent me about it:
Try thinking of this paper as a position paper. Consider what you want to say, clarify that position, and defend that position with your research. For this paper you must use as a minimum of eight scholarly articles, this is where your research comes into play. You may want to provide examples of successes (hence your reason for defending this position) and then contrast where others have failed (again supporting your rationale for choosing your position). By providing 4-5 assertions, you walk your readers through your thought process and lead them to agree with your position.
If this topic is to cumbersome you may want to consider a new topic, but make that decision soon. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Please choose a Third World country that interests you. Prepare a sociological research report from five to ten pages long summarizing independent research on ONE of the following topics as it

applies to the specific country: Democratic Change, Religion and Politics, Cultural Pluralism and Ethnic Conflict, Status of Women, Agrarian Reform and the Politics of Rural Change, or Rapid

Urbanization and the Politics of the Urban Poor. The approach should utilize the sociological perspective and sociological investigation techniques explained in Chapters 1 and 2 of the

Introduction to Sociology (Macionis) textbook or in any standard sociology text.
The Research Report must follow APA Style. At least five Web sites or other scholarly references are required. All direct quotes from sources MUST be enclosed in quotation marks with the

author?s last name and the year of publication in parentheses at the end of the quoted sentence or section. No credit is awarded for written work deemed by the instructor to be plagiarized.
Gradepoints are awarded for organization of facts within a sociological framework, for relating the topic to human development in the country of interest, for effective use of references, and for

the demonstration of cross-cultural understanding.

Maus books

Topic 1.  Did the experience of reading the Maus books change anything about your understanding of any (or all) of the following: the value or importance of sharing stories; the nature of human nature; the nature of social reality; ethnic relations?

Topic 2.  Write a paper on the Maus texts that reconstructs (or deconstructs) your experience of reading them. Show how your response changed, how portions affected you emotionally (viscerally) and intellectually, what questions the text brought to you and vice versa, how your response changed over time, and your overall impression (once finished).

Topic 3. Do you feel you have personally benefitted from reading Art Spiegelman’s Maus I and Maus II? (Why or why not?)

The above topics are also ‘negotiable’ to some extent. What is most important is that I know what topic you are writing on before (or shortly after) you begin writing.

ECO 561 Week 2 Knowledge Check

2 . What are two ways for a competitive firm to determine the optimal level of production, that is, the level of production that will maximize profit or minimize losses?

  • A. Comparing total revenue to total cost or marginal revenue to marginal costs
  • B. Comparing average revenue to average costs or marginal revenue to marginal costs
  • C. Comparing average variable costs to price or marginal revenue to price
  • D. Comparing total revenue to average variable costs or price to average variable costs

3 . Suppose that a firm determines that its marginal revenue is greater than its marginal cost, it would be better to

  • A. increase production
  • B. decrease production
  • C. keep production the same
  • D. increase price

4 . It is profitable for a firm to continue employing additional resources as long as

  • A. Marginal Revenue Product >= Marginal Resource Cost
  • B. Marginal Revenue Product <= Marginal Resource Cost
  • C. Marginal revenue >= Marginal cost
  • D. Marginal Revenue Product >= Price

5 . As additional units are produced, the marginal revenue product falls for all firms because marginal product decreases. For firms operating in industries that are not perfectly competitive, marginal revenue product also falls because

  • A. product price falls as output increases
  • B. product price falls as output decreases
  • C. product price increases as output increases
  • D. product price increases as output decreases

6 . All things being equal, an increase in demand for a product,

  • A. increases demand for the resources used in its production
  • B. decreases demand for the resources used in its production
  • C. increases the supply of a product
  • D. decreases the supply of resources used in its production

7 . Marginal cost can be defined as the addition to _____ of one more unit of output.

  • A. total variable costs
  • B. average total costs
  • C. average variable costs
  • D. total fixed costs

8 . If a firm stars small and, over time, builds successively larger plant sizes or adds additional work space in an office, average total costs are most likely to

  • D. continually increase

9 . Demand for resources, including labor, depend on its

  • A. productivity
  • B. profitability
  • C. availability
  • D. accessibility

10 . The primary difference between increasing- and decreasing-cost industries lies in

  • A. fixed-cost components: only increasing-cost industries have significant fixed costs
  • B. variable-cost components: only decreasing-cost industries have significant variable costs
  • C. the fact that the average total cost (ATC) of firms in increasing-cost industries will first decline and then eventually increase with output, while decreasing-cost firms experience progressively lower ATC with increased output
  • D. efficiency of production

11 . When adding labor or other factors of production, businesses may see their total product rise, but see their per-unit increase in return for each additional unit diminish. This phenomenon

  • A. occurs only for firms that do not efficiently use their factors of production
  • B. applies only to capital-intensive industries
  • C. is known as diminishing marginal product and has general market application
  • D. depends on how abundant or scarce labor is in existing factor-markets

12 . In the short run, firms should shut down if

  • A. AVC > P
  • B. ATC > P > AVC
  • C. P > ATC
  • D. P > MC

13 . When you are considering the value of a resource in its next best use, you are considering its

  • A. opportunity cost
  • B. production cost
  • C. marginal cost
  • D. price

14 . Of the four major market structures–perfectly competitive, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, monopoly–reducing variable costs of production

  • A. is not a viable option for perfectly competitive firms— or price-takers—because the per-unit profit margin is fixed by the equilibrium price
  • B. can enhance profit for all but the monopoly firm, which, because it has no competition, has little financial incentive to lower its per-unit costs
  • C. will result in significant increases in profit-margin, regardless of market structure, if coupled with significant increases in product price
  • D. enhance profit per-unit, because profit equals revenue minus cost.Click here to have a similar paper done for you by one of our writers within the set deadline at a discounted

Cultued Beef And The Future of Global Meat Consumption

1- Even though there is no crystal ball to foresee what lies ahead for a nation (U.S.) or world which faces possible over-consumption of food due to too many people (mouths to feed), there is still a precautionary state of being to enhance the possibility of returning to and sustaining a healthy, leveled out way of living (minimum viable population). The immediate concern is the space needed to carry all the bodies of people arriving and by that I mean, a long with other things, that humans are robotic or completely immune from harm’s way and so at some point they will need assistance like medical care, but if you have ever been in a hospital now you know that it’s a long process because there isn’t enough room to have people be cared for all at once. And as the population grows so will the expansion of businesses such as hospitals which will decrease space.

If many people are like me diet-wise, and I believe that they are, the taste of meat (beef, poultry, etc.) is not something they’re willing to give up. I refer you at this time to the article at the bottom (“Would You Like Fries With Your Stem-Cell Burger? Cultued Beef And The Future of Global Meat Consumption”), where stated, “According to the researchers, current meat production methods are inefficient due to the amount of land required for the production of grain for feed.” An unlikely development will have to occur in order for meat to not become a “luxury”.

As technology has sent us into a modern society of a city-life living it looks as though it has hit a celing and for there to be enough food for everyone expected to be on Earth then people will have to change the land back and become farmers (so to say) for themselves and have more people pitch in instead of a select few.

2- Thomas Malthus was convinced that without checks in the populations our food source would pale in comparison to the amount of people in the world. He felt that abstinence was the best way to prevent this from occurring. However, the human capability to reproduce is not likely to out-pace the ability of food to be produced. This is because there have been other preventive measures taken along with abstinence. Although abstinence is probably the best way to prevent exponential population growth, it is unrealistic on a worldwide scale. Therefore, some of the preventive measures that are used to control population growth are birth control and contraceptives. Since these preventive measures are used widely along with abstinence, the population should be able to stay at a sustainable level. Also, even if we look at the issues of over-population with lack of food source from the perspective that production of food was the main problem it is still unlikely that people will out-pace food today.  In the 1790s when Thomas Malthus ideas were at the prime, it could have been deemed that food production could have been seen as the main source problem.  However, in today’s world there have been many advances in agricultural science that makes food production much easier than it was in the 1790’s.

——————————————————

3- I agree with the Malthusian theory that we are reproducing more than we can produce food and water. We are seeing it now in other countries where they are overpopulated and do not have enough food or resources to support everyone. Even in America I feel that people are over consuming foods and resources causing scarcity and prices to rise on certain items. Not only this but there are health issues concerning over consuming such as obesity caused by unhealthy eating or eating larger portions than what should be eaten.

Back in the time of Thomas Malthus, they didn’t really have a problem with running out of food because their mortality rate was low. They didn’t have the same medicine and technology we did to help them survive, stay alive or prevent certain diseases. But when medicine and technology advanced people started to live longer and death rates decreased. More people meant more food and more resources being used up. Now in modern times, the world is reproducing at a high rate not to mention the fact that people are over consuming i.e. America, eventually the world will run out of food and resources to supply everyone.

The purpose of this exercise is three-tiered: to compare your own cultural background (African American mother, Canadian father with Christian values) with that of others; to raise awareness of the importance of self-identity based on affiliations with groups; and to consider the influence of self-identity on individuals’ experiences in organizational settings.

Introduction

Personal characteristics (some changeable, others not), which may influence an individual’s basic self-image and sense of identity, may also influence experiences in the workplace.  Primary dimensions of diversity are essentially unchangeable personal characteristics (e.g., gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, and physical and mental abilities).

Secondary dimensions of diversity, however, are changeable personal characteristics that are acquired and may be modified or abandoned throughout life (e.g., education, income, marital and parental status, religion, political affiliation, and work experience). Of course, secondary characteristics are not completely self-determined; educational background, work experience, income, and marital status are affected by others’ decisions.  However, people generally have more control over secondary dimensions of diversity than over primary dimensions.

Instructions

Create a pie chart identifying group affiliations that have some importance in your self-concept.  These affiliations may be based on any of the primary and secondary dimensions of diversity mentioned or on some other personal characteristic that is particularly important to you. Indicate the approximate importance of each group by the size of the slice of pie that you assign it.

** Write a summary of your answers to the following questions concerning your pie chart:

1.  What did you learn about yourself?

2.  What surprised you the most?

3.  How does your self-identity influence your experiences in organizational settings?
