 Fear of Failure

Fear of loss or failure is another hindrance to critical and creative thinking. Having a fear of making mistakes, losing time, money or making a mistake hinders you from applying critical thinking skills. Consequently, it is not the encounter of failure that holds a person; rather it is the anticipation and possibility of failure that becomes the primary and fundamental reason for ineffectiveness and failure.

 Fear of Criticism

Fear of criticism or fear of scorn, ridicule, and rejection is also a hindrance to critical and creative thinking. Most people are always afraid of looking foolish and sounding dumb, which is triggered by the yearning and desire to be approved and liked by other people. Apparently, it is sorrowful that most people live a life of mediocrity and underachievement as they are afraid of what other people will think about them (Brian Tracy International, n. d). Consequently, fear of criticism makes them play safe and only settle for less than their capabilities and capacity.
