Family nurse practitioners emphasizes on the detection of alteration in health, prevention, health maintenance and promotion of health through teaching, counselling and supportive intervention to an individual and families. In addition, family nurse practitioners performs disease care management such as management and diagnosis of acute, chronic and common conditions(ANCC, 2011). Like the clinical nurse specialists, they consult and collaborate with other health care providers. Family nurse practitioners approach the nursing practice based on the understanding of the community and family system as well as the epidemiological to the health problems. It also include the management of appropriate technology, economics and resources. Studies indicated that family nurse practitioners play important role to the access of primary care to all in the society especially those in rural, suburban, inner city and under-served. They also provide care to the individual and families in different setting such as in the hospital, workplace, school and home.
