How Packets are Segmented in the Transport Layer

            It is prevalent that data segmentation takes place in the Transport Layer of the TCP/IP model.  the segmentation of the data at the outlined layer is based on the UDP or the TCP port numbers and the IP addresses of the data to be segmented. The process of data segmentation on the layer is initiated by encapsulation. Incidentally, when data reaches the layer, the protocols evident in the layer initiated the encapsulation process. In this case, the application data is encapsulated into transport protocol data units (Paasch & Bonaventure, 2014). Subsequently, the transport layer protocol results in data virtual flow existing between the application that sends and receives the data that is determined by the available transport port number. Prevalently, a port is determined by the port number which is located within the memory for the purpose of sending and receiving data. After the encapsulation, segmentation takes place in the aid of TCP protocol. Incidentally, the connection-oriented protocol focuses on the successful delivery data delivery to the host that receives the data. Incidentally, the protocol obtains the data from the rlogin command and later subdivides the data into segments before attaching the obtained headers to each data segment.
