Emergency medical services (EMS) program provide students anticipating to work in the EMS with extensive knowledge needed to enhance emergency health care to different people based on different urgent medical condition. The systems were to be installed in ambulances and connected to the emergency centers used for students straining (EMS.gov, n.d.).

Description of the Setting

The model was installed in emergency ambulances used in students training and had the systems connected the emergency centers the college use in practical training. Different patient assessment machines were installed in different ambulances including ultra-sound system, and cardiovascular monitoring system. Individuals where required to take a theoretical test on how to use the two machines to monitor patient’s condition before taking a practical case. Students were put in a three month training session where they would try using the systems anytime there is an emergency and transmit the data to the emergency room. Personal report was also required to match the transmitted data. Successful use of the machine was measured based on the received data, student’s report and the actual patient’s assessment results on arrival (Al-Shaqsi, 2010).

Purpose of the Evaluation

The main purpose of the evaluation is to determine how viable the upcoming digital models used in emergency department were and students efficiency in employing them accurately to enhance proper care. The evaluation tested students ability to handle the new technology effectively to maximize on life saving through enhancement of patient receiving preparation and reduction of waiting time in the emergency room or time wasting doing basic patient analysis.

The plan is based on objective-oriented chief model of emergency medical service system that focuses on reducing waiting time and enhancement of general efficiency in the emergency services delivery. This is because the plan focuses on establishing whether the model achieves its main purpose. Its main purpose is to maximize on life saving by reducing waiting time, particularly the time wasted for patient general assessment and recording prior to seeing the emergency physician. The plan is meant to inform the condition of the patient to those in the emergency room in advance to ensure that they are fully prepared to receive the patient and to start with necessary medical procedure immediately the ambulance arrives. The plan adapted provus objective-model since it defines the organization process of problem-solving for EMS staffs (Fitzpatrick et al., 2004).

Analysis and Reporting

The students will need to record their actual assessment reading while conducting the assessment in the ambulance. The system will also store the disseminated real-time patient assessment results conducted in the ambulance. The medical professionals in the emergency room will reevaluate the patient to ascertain the sent data are accurate.  The three results will be compared and report written on the system efficiency in transmitting the actual data obtained by the student in the ambulance assessment. Students’ efficiency in the patient assessment and data dissemination will be ascertained by the result obtained on arrival, particularly in ultrasound evaluation may not vary greatly compared to results in heart pace evaluation.
