Mental Health Patient Population and Community-Based Nursing Care

Our case study will generally cover the healthcare element of mental health. In regard to this, we shall put in place a study approach that best caters for the patients in a bid to bring out a progressive outcome. In this case, we will employ community-based nursing as our base approach. It will ensure a comprehensive focus on the individuals to promote self-care, autonomy and decision-making. We shall also merge this with the knowledge of medical nursing care to follow the correct treatment procedures.

As dictated by the community-based model, we shall operate mainly from the clients’ residence; where they live, work and play. It will ensure optimum collection of data and perfect drawing of inferences to ensure optimum health for the patients.May it be it be a camp, work site, home or even an Indian American reservation, we shall make efforts against all odds so as to reach the clients.

Concerning the demographic bearings, we shall assess the feasibility of our study and therefore make the necessary inclusion and exclusion inferences from our survey. Demographic aspects will be considered as a fragmental basis of the research. Its importance lays the foundation of which scale our community-based approach will be effective. As well known, a quarter of a population will often suffer a mental health problem in the course of a given year. Children seem to be the most affected. In our sample population, we shall expect a minimum of four people in a neighborhood of sixteen people. The affected population will then be subjected to inclusion and exclusion criteria so as to finally cherry-pick our final study populace. The inclusion criteria will feature recent hospitalization related to complex mental health illness or social situation and either a provider or nurse recommendation. On the other hand, the exclusion criteria will highlight age more than 10 years and not greater than 80years,provider discretion, presence of unstable mental health illness or presence of other case managers. Those who will not wish to be part of the study in the sample population will also be excluded.

We shall also consider social economical, health risk and environmental hazards. Social economic factors of our study will review the social skills of the illness which encompass discrimination and isolation, lack of access to support services, academic failure, and poor bonding with parents, peer rejection and general social economic disadvantages. Health risk factors arising from mental illnesses are often numerous. For instance, there exists a probability of the case worsening and taking a higher scale in severity is always there. Additionally, other illnesses arising from poor care may also arise. What is more, in mental health care environmental hazards are also prevalent and so we will have to be observant of the possibilities.
