Website Creation Project Charter

Project Problem Statement

Due to the rising cases of the need to improve user interaction with input platforms, many organizations require a flexible website to allow for easy data input and presentation of the data in a form that is appealing to the user. Former input designs using command-line interface is difficult and tasking, requiring multiple codes too be keyed in accurately, failure to which the whole output is flawed. Additionally, code execution and debugging is difficult, since the input is all commands. Consequently, a need for a simpler method of data input into the system was required. Website creation was the best means. Websites are mobile, implying that they can be accessed wherever one is located within the universe. There was a rising need for a method of keeping records and allowing for updating on different modules. This could only be achieved through a website platform.

The other problem that necessitated a website was the need to allow for real time updates. The old manual system of data manual data entry required only updates on specific times and dates. The growing and expanding business requires that the method of data input be upgraded into a faster deliverable system, which in this case should be real time.

Project Objectives

Difference in data entry methods by different departments created data integrity issues. Therefore, one of the main objectives of the project was to create and integrate website with databases of the company to provide for easy manipulation and implementation of integrity constraints.

Regarding the website, there is a need to manage simple data entry into the database using web-based platform to facilitate user-friendliness and allow even the novices to manipulate sections of data as per the configurations accorded to them. This would reduce training time and further enhance the interface design of the website platform interaction (Jacque, 2014).

Numerous issues of data security require correct measures to be implemented in order to restrict database access. This forms another objective, which is to create a secure web-based platform that allows data entry through logging in to ensure verification and validation of credentials before accessing data and information.

Scope of Operation

The website targets to work under strict rules of openness and clarity apply when operating. This shall ensure that the objectives are met and implemented accordingly. Regarding the issue of security, the Website Project would meet the goal by implementing logging in to ensure that all actions are tracked in a time-monitoring tool and log of events feature. Additionally, only authorized members accepted during sign-up procedure that shall be able to access the system. This shall form a barrier between the outer core of the system and the inner core. Information Technology members, fully qualified in that field, shall manage the inner core of the system. Other users will use the outer website platform to access basic data information as defined in their profiles only.

Needs and Features

The Website will form a platform for user interaction with the system. As a result, a list of guidelines and training are required to ensure that each user or administrator will be comfortable with the new system. Some formal security categorization of users accessing the website would be used to separate administrators from the normal users. Administrators shall access the administrative panel whereas normal users will have access to the basic site, with no administrative rights other than password resetting and own profile management.

The Website interface should be presentable and appealing. This is the work of a combination of various factors and tools. Such tools include HTML, PHP, CSS, BootStrap, and other coding tools. The overall effect of the combinational coding and website creation environment would produce a desirable site that is easy to use and learn, with working links and directories. A secure login and signup form would be used for creating users into the database and for authenticating them before accessing any information on the system.

Training and Implementation

Once the website is complete, some of the programmers will engage in training users on how to access different information on the website. This will be done in different formats. Some will implement video tutorials, notes and handouts, as well as practical hands-on-skills. Furthermore, step-by-step documentation shall be used by the technicians to repair or manage the website in case of any amendments. Each user would be provided with a copy of the user-guide manual to offer self-training on how to use the system.

Website implementation should follow systematic pilot project format. This will allow for continuous confirmation of the working condition of the system and provide for more integrity or criticism of the system. Some parts of the company will start using the new system as the changeover is implemented in the other areas of the company (Cope, 2008). All servers would be configured necessarily as per the specifications of the website and database location. The desired overall admin configurations should be set up for the purpose of super administration. Formatting schemes to be used shall enhance appearance. Some of these formatting schemes are CSS styling and Bootstrap application to ensure screen size flexibility is achieved.

Challenges and Difficulties

Some of the challenges expected to be encountered during the Website Creation project may entail how to incorporate the different modules together as designed differently by the different website designers. Integration into a single running entity is a challenge to the analyst and programmer as well. Different versions of the program codes may introduce errors and disunity, calling for more examination of the codes, which is time consuming and tasking. Another challenge might be acceptance by the larger community. This is especially eminent where the users are obsolete and old, and feel that the old redundant system is sufficient for their needs. However, some of these challenges are manageable. The case of convincing the existing workers of the new system rests with how efficient the system would be able to handle the multiple tasks with less crash reports.

Part 2. Work Breakdown Structure

The following work breakdown structure shall be followed during the design and implementation of the Website project. Each work schedule is subdivided into the different deliverable modules as per the working requirements of the system to provide for correct work plan. Every single module provides a complete fashion of the method to be used in achieving each task separately. This is a case of a top down approach, which implements the most demanding tasks at the top of the structure, as more specifications are laid down towards the lower parts of the structure to ensure consistency and completeness in data explanation. Individual modules explain more detail of the goals and achievements to be made.
