Policy and Procedure

For your Policy and Procedure project, develop, write, and present an innovative human resources policy that limits a company’s liability and promotes its core mission and values.

Consider the following scenario for your project:

A company you have studied during this course has hired you to recommend changes to its human resources policy. Because you have been tracking the company for a number of weeks, management expects that you know the relevant issues. Their goal is to implement change, bring the company to compliance, and begin the process of invoking the spirit of the law. You will create a policy and a monitoring procedure that is imminently critical to the success of the company’s recovery. You must pay careful attention to complaint procedures and any other relevant self-monitoring procedures necessary to insure compliance. Central to your project is an effort to merge company and personal values within the construct of current legal requirements.

The Policy and Procedure project is comprised of three main parts:

A written policy in formal documentation.
A monitoring procedure for the policy that not only responds to potential wrongdoing, but also anticipates it.
A proposal to management, in memo or PowerPoint presentation form, that introduces the policy to all employees.
Examples from the readings and other work environments are expected. Examples from your own work environment will not be helpful for the course project.

To successfully complete this project, you will be expected to:
Analyze regulatory requirements that monitor and govern the relationship between employer and employee.
Analyze the changing demographics of the United States and how those changes impact the current conditions in a workplace.
Consider the effects of shifting ethical norms on the nature and implementation of new human resources policy and procedure.
Evaluate a corporation’s value statement and its expression of the spirit and letter of the law as it pertains to the workplace.
Analyze current and potential liabilities and propose strategies for prevention and recovery.

To achieve a successful project experience and outcome, you are expected to meet the following requirements.
Recommend a solution.
Include all key components.
Include a complete references list using APA (6th edition) citing and referencing standards.
Comply with APA (6th edition) guidelines.

Value or Mission Statement

THE POLICY – You need to have your policy directed at the workforce that states the changes that have taken place per your new policy. You must address compliance (what the new rules are) and consequences for noncompliance (what can happen to the person if they violate a rule). This is best to have in an outline form so each section is clear to the workforce. Do not write like an academic paper. Please be detailed in this policy so each foreseeable issue is addressed and clearly articulated to the workforce.

Since this is a policy that will go out to the workforce, you should include a section where the employee puts their signature with a statement that they understand and agree to the terms and conditions of this policy.
