The Vietnam War is a case which reveals failed communication. The war was many things to many people. Also, it exemplified and demonstrated the complexity of putting in the trial a conventional war against dissent enemy and waging a partial and limited war against an enemy waging, in essence, unlimited war. Therefore, the use of the rolling thunder campaign as a persuasive campaign was the long-lived aerial bombing campaign, which was a challenge that America faced in the war (Drew, n. d). Additionally, the American air power doctrine was founded on the perception of strategic assault, a perception based on two essential statements and assumptions. The first assumption was that all of the American wars were aimed at destroying the enemy’s capability to wage contemporary warfare. Also, the second assumption was that any country that became an enemy to America would be a modern industrialized state. The objective of the United States while engaging in the Vietnam War was to persuade the North Vietnamese to cease and discontinue in their support of the war in South Vietnam.

So it is normal for every influential campaign to drop, adjust, or maintain diverse strategies founded on the responses of the target audience. To start with, for the United States to succeed with its persuasive campaign, it ought to have selected an ideal, legitimate, and good name for the campaign. A logical name allows your target audience to believe in your ideology or product as it illustrates whether you are believable and trustworthy.
Conversely, tactics and strategies could be ideal and perfect for the United States to succeed with its persuasive campaign. The goal of the United States was to get its target audience, the North Vietnamese, to become active with the campaign and support its idea, which could have brought influence and power to the campaign. Nonetheless, the goal of the United States could be to allow the North Vietnamese participate fully in the campaign (Mobley-Welsh, 2013). The use of penetration could have made the Rolling and Thunder campaign to succeed as it is an inclining and tipping point in every campaign. Further, the distribution which is also a phase or stage in the campaign model could have significantly contributed to the success of the Rolling and Thunder campaign. The stage of distribution allows the campaign to reward its reliable and loyal followers, which is a primary key to the success of any campaign.
