According to Batool, (2013) Emotional intelligence is basically the ability of people to understand and recognize and express feelings and emotions within themselves and in other people and regulate them in a way that enhances life. Individuals who have high emotional intelligence are always effective and productive in leadership roles because of their capability and ease of connecting and understanding people around them.
For example a person or a leader may be smart with winning ideas and personality or is visionary but this ideas or vision never amount to much in the long run. What makes the biggest difference between these successes or failures is the person’s emotional intelligence. Good leadership, for example, is not only about things going right or wrong (Batool, 2013). Some always go the wrong way. Being a useful front runner is knowing how to deal with emotions, understand other people’s emotions the emotions and find an effective approach to solve problems.
Emotional quotient, also known as emotional intelligence is well-defined as people’s capacity to understand, recognize and express feelings and emotions within themselves and in other people and regulate them in a way that enhances life while intelligence quotient, refers to a tally derived from varied uniform tests intended to evaluate a person’s intelligence. It is used to identify individuals with high intelligence, mental challenges and academic capabilities. Emotional quotient is an enhanced gauge of high accomplishment in an organization and is used to identify good team players, leaders and individuals who work best on their own (Robbins & Judge, 2015). Emotional quotient identifies with individuals or leaders who work best on their own and always have social problems while intelligence quotient identifies with highly proficient and gifted individuals or leaders with intellectual challenges and superior necessities.
